How to get more lawn care customers before spring
A January-to-March plan for filling your route before the season starts: win back cancellations, close old estimates, and pre-sell your densest streets.

Spring signups are easy. Filling the route before spring is how you start the season with full days instead of chasing them until June. Here's the calendar.
January: clean the list
Pull three lists: active customers, customers who cancelled in the last two years, and estimates you sent that never closed. That last one is gold — they already wanted the service.
Early February: text the past
One text each, personal, not a blast: "Hi Sarah, it's Dave from CutRoute Lawn. We're starting routes March 15. Want your Tuesday spot back?" Expect 15–25% to say yes. Offer the monthly seasonal plan and ask for the card on file.
Mid-February: pre-sell the streets you drive
Look at your route map. Find the streets with the most customers and the most gaps. Door hangers or a small EDDM mailing to only those carrier routes: "Your neighbors at 412 and 420 Maple are on our Tuesday route. Two spots left on the street." Scarcity is real when you're managing density.
Late February: ask for referrals now
Existing customers are thinking about spring too. Offer a free cut for any neighbor who signs up before opening day.
March: lock the route
Build the schedule from the confirmed list. Assign days by geography. Send every customer their day and first-visit date. Then open the door for new signups into the gaps you can see on the map.
What to measure
Confirmed customers by March 1, average drive time per stop, and percent on autopay. If all three are better than last year, the season will be too.
